FAQ
What Does 100m/200m etc Operating Distance Mean?
This is the distance that the chime kit will operate in 'open field' conditions, i.e. no obstacles. This figure will be reduced by walls and metal door frames. Where possible, try and mount away from metal surfaces as these will reduce the distance which your doorbell will work at.
Are There Any Doorbells Which Don't Require Batteries?
Yes. At ADoorBell, we have a range of chimes which do not require batteries as they simply plug into the socket. There are multiple different styles to chose from from both Byron and Friedland.
Some of the Byron Plug In kits come complete with both a plug in chime and a portable chime, giving you the best of both worlds. Friedland also offer a range of plug in chime kits, some which come with a portable chime too.
What Doorbells Can I Use If I Have a Garden Office?
All of our range of portable door chimes are ideal for you if you have an office in the garden or require a portable chime. The first thing to consider is the distance the chime will be away from the bell push and also what surface the bell push will be mounted upon.
The more modern, PVC frames will usually have metal inside for security reasons, meaning the operating distance of the chime kit will be reduced as a result, therefore a higher operating distance chime may be required.
Wooden frames are best for mounting bell pushes on as they will not make too much of an impact on the chime kit's operating distance.
Do You Offer Doorbells For the Hard of Hearing?
Yes we do! At ADoorBell, we offer a range of extra loud chime kits which are ideal for the hard of hearing as they are much louder than the usual doorbells. Most also come with flashing lights to alert you to the presence of someone at your door.
Take a look at the Byron Loud range for more information.
Can I Use a Byron BY Product With a Byron SX Product?
No. All of Byron's products are only compatible with the corresponding codes. For example, a BY bell push will only work with the BY range of products, not the SX range.
